Gianluca Jodice

Born in Naples on 4 December 1973, Gianluca Jodice graduated in philosophy from the University of Naples Federico II. While still very young, he started making documentaries and shorts.

In 1995 he was a finalist at the Bellaria Film Festival with the ultra-short L’infinito (Infinity). In 1999 he won the Critic’s Cinematography and Television award with his short, Carne di topo (Rat Meat). In 2001, his short La signorina Holibet (Miss Holibet) directed by Nanni Moretti, won the Sacher d’oro for Best Film, Sacher d’oro for Best Actress and People’s Jury Sacher d’argento at the Sacher Film Festival. During 2002 he won awards at The Opere Nuove Bolzano, Sentiero Corto Milano, Corto Imola Festival and Fano Film Festival again for La signorina Holibet. This short was also included in the DVD, ‘Best Short Films of Italy’

In November 2002 his new work Ritratto di bambino (Portrait of a Child) produced by Nicola Giuliano’s Indigo Film, won a special mention at the Turin Film Festival, in the international shorts section. Ritratto di bambino received two Nastro d’argento nominations (Best Short and a Special Mention for production) and was an official selection for the Italian Film Festivals of London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Aberdeen. It also won first prize at The Luzzara Frontiere Film Festival, official selection at N.I.C.E New York and San Francisco, the Special Jury prize at the Seville Film Festival, the FICE prize, first prize at Visioni Italiane, Bologna and Special Mention at the Siena International Short Film Festival. In 2007 the screenplay for feature film La costruzione della notte was among the finalists for the Solinas prize. One of the 24 three- minute episodes which make up the collective film Napoli24, produced by Nicola Giuliano, Angelo Curti and Giorgio Magliulo with RaiCinema was from 2009.
In 2013 he directed a ten-episode series, 1992, with Giuseppe Gagliardi produced by Wildside for Sky. In 2014 he made Cercando la grande bellezza (Searching for The Great Beauty), a documentary on the Paolo Sorrentino film La grande bellezza from Indigo Film.

Il cattivo poeta, produced by Matteo Rovere and Andrea Paris for Ascent Film, was his first feature film for cinema.

Giovanni La Pàrola

Born in Palermo on 5 May 1975, Giovanni La Pàrola moved to Bologna where he attended DAMS (School of Performing Arts).

He has been directing and editing feature films, shorts, commercials, videoclips, documentaries and video installations since the early 2000s. In 2001 he made a short documentary film Still Life which was awarded the Ceare Zavattini prize. His next short, Il pugile (The Boxer) (2004), made with the prize money, brought him to the attention of a producer who entrusted him with the direction of the comedy, E se domani (2006), his cinematographic debut. In 2012 he made the short Cusutu n’coddu – Cucito addosso thanks to the New Arts prize of the Monte Foundation of Bologna and Ravenna and financing from the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Apulia Film Commission. This film received wide recognition in Italy and overseas and was in the five finalists for a David di Donatello 2012.

He acted in the films Tutti i santi giorni (Every Blessed Day), Notti magiche (Magical Nights) and L’ispettore Coliandro (Inspector Coliandro). In 2019 he made his second feature film Il mio corpo vi sepellirà (My Body Will Bury You) currently awaiting distribution. In 2020 he made a film adaptation of Giovanni Verga’s novella, La caccia al lupo (The Wolf-Hunt), now in post-production.

Carlo Lavagna

Carlo Lavagna was born in Rome. He studied philosophy at University of Rome La Sapienza and the University of RUK (Copenhagen), and lived across Europe and in the United States before returning to Italy to film Arianna, his first feature film, winner of best Italian film at the 2015 Venice Film Festival (Venice Days) and of the Italian Golden Globes for best actress. The film was also nominated in the category best upcoming director at the David di Donatello awards (Italian Oscars).

As a director and producer, he made documentaries, art and short films presented at various festivals, including Venice, BFI London, Locarno, Gothenburg, Rotterdam, Lincoln Center, Guadalajara and many others. in 2018 he directed the 12 episodes tv show DPG La Serie, on one of the major trap bands in Italy. Carlo contributes to the New York Times, Dazed and Confused, Vogue and Nowness, directing videos for their platforms. He also directed and edited short documentaries for Vice, Discovery, MTV, PBS, Hantang, Rai and other international broadcasters.
 He directed the short film L’Unico for Maison Valentino and other short films and advertisements for Bulgari, Max Mara, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci. His second feature film Shadows stars debut actress Mia Threapleton, Lola Petticrew and Saskia Reevs. He’s working on his next film Golden Desert (Cruel Destiny) and developing the tv series Arcana Imperii for HBO Max.

Matteo Lena

Born in Tortona in 1978, he now lives in Rome where he works for Italian TV.

One of his journalistic scoops in 2007 was the revelation of sado-masochistic homosexual encounters inside the Vatican.
He won the Ilaria Alpi prize for Le mani su Palermo (Hands on Palermo), a television documentary on Cosa Nostra aired on in 2008 and he made the mokumentary Waste Africa in 2013 about a child living in an electronic waste dump in Ghana.

Christian Letruria is an Italian director, writer, producer, anchorman, reporter and actor. He has been working on commercials, documentaries, television broadcasts, music videos, shorts, viral videos since he set out on his journey in 2001.

Edoardo Lugari

Edoardo Lugari is one of the most noted and appreciated advertising directors in Italy and overseas.
Invicta, Fiat, Mini, Nastro Azzurro, Coca Cola, Vodafone: when you see any of these commercials online or on television you can assume it was probably directed by Lugari.

He graduated in sociology, had a career as a punk band drummer before directing the Fiat 500 commercial with Sting.
He is currently working on his first feature film.

Giampaolo Marconato

Giampaolo Marconato, director and documentary maker, was born in Rome in 1974 where he currently lives and works.

He began his professional career as a cameraman before going on to become director of photography and make his directing debut in 2011 with a factual programme for RA5 produced by Fremantle. Among his most important work are: all seasons of Il contadino cerca moglie (Farmer Wants a Wife) and Parla con lei 2 (Talk to Her 2) for FOX, the last two seasons of XFactor Italia (Casting and Home Visit) for SkyUno, the documentaries Delitti: Speciale Garlasco and Il Crac Parmalat for Crime Investigations, Stato Civile and Storie del genere for Raitre, the last episode of La pupa e il secchione e viceversa produced by EndemoShine for ItaliaUno and he is currently directing the series of four documentaries Mostri senza nome (Monsters with No Name) for Crime Investigations.

Francesca Marino

Francesca Marino Studied Directing at the Italian National Film School in Rome in 2010. She directed the two short movies, Knockout and L’Uomo Senza Paura, that have been positively received and show her directing abilities. After graduating, she was awarded Premio Solinas for Best Script. In 2017 she wrote and directed the comedy web series Unisex. Blackout Love is Marino’s first movie. 

Federico Mazzarisi

Federico Mazzarisi (1994) is an award-winning director based in Italy, who has directed several commercial and narrative projects. After graduating in Film Design at Milan’s Istituto Europeo di Design, he moved to London to enroll at the prestigious National Film and Television School. His works have been selected at multiple international festivals, including British Arrows, Cannes Lions, Ciclope, Berlin Commercial, and Milan Fashion Film.

His short film “Learning from the Wind” was awarded the Silver Lion at Cannes Young Director Awards. A philosophy background makes Federico especially attuned to exploring the narrative power of images and to travel the world, absorbing and applying the influence of multiple cultures in his narrative and photographic endavours.
